YULETIDE AT DELACEY HALL
Welcome to DeLacey Hall!
It’s not much, but we call it home.
‘Tis Christmas Day in the Morning!
Come in!
Here is the Porter’s lodge.
He will be very busy this Yuletide, as we will have many guests to join
us in the feasting and merrymaking.
Here we are in the courtyard.
The kitchen, brew house, and chapel are over there.
This is the Great Hall.
Around to one side is a private entrance into the range
where I have my chamber.
I must go now to dinner.
It will be a feast of three courses of twelve dishes each! My Lady Mother has grudgingly consented to my
having Nell, my poppet, with me at table.
The Great Hall is through that doorway.
It has been very cold, but it has not snowed. It would have been nice to have snow on
Christmas.
As usual, Father is away, attending the queen at her
Christmas court. He has promised to have
me presented to the Queen this coming year, and I shall have a new court gown
for the occasion.
The Great Hall has been hung with fresh green garlands, and
lit with scores of candles.
My mother will preside over dinner at the high table. I will sit at a lower table with my governess
and Nell.
Dinner concluded, Mother and the most important guests have retired
to the banqueting chamber for a course of sweets and candies. I am honoured to be invited to play music for
them while they enjoy their rich delicacies.
And I will get to share some of the fancy sweets as well! Blessings of this Christmas Season on you
all!
